Biography
Aline Pacheco is an Associate Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), in Brazil and a member of the Coordination Committee in the Aeronautical Science Program at PUCRS. She holds a PhD in Language Studies – Language Theory and Analysis, from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS/2010) and a Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics (PUCRS/2000). Both studies focused on the acquisition of English as a Foreign Language.
Her research interests include Aviation English, English for Specific Purposes, Corpus Linguistics, Language as a Human Factor in Aviation and Second Language Acquisition. In 2017, she was a Visiting Research Scholar at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where she started working in collaboration with Prof. Elizabeth Mathews. She is also part of the Human Factors Research Project at PUCRS, where she investigates the communication processes in the Oil and Gas Industry from the perspectives of Aviation English and Linguistics.
