From 1984 to 1988, I was a student at Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris. I received both my BS and MS in 1985, from the University of Paris VI (U. Pierre et Marie Curie), and my Ph.D in March 1989 from the University of Nice.
I was hired in 1989 by CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) in France to work in the Department of Theoretical Physics at the University of Nice and then at the Institut Non Linéaire de Nice.
Between 1990 and 1997, I regularly visited the Department of Mathematics at the University of Arizona. I was hired as an Assistant Professor by this Department in 1997, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2000, and to Professor in 2006.
