Biography

Osamu Handa is Assistant Professor of Department of Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine. He received his MD from Yamaguchi University, Japan in 1994, and obtained his PhD in gastroenterology from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, Graduate School of Medical Science in 2003. He obtained additional position as a Visiting Professor in Faculty of Life and Medical Science in 2012, Doshisha University in addition to the current position. His clinical/basic research field is the oxidative stress in pathophysiology and in gastroenterology. His current interests are (1) Helicobacter pylori and gastric carcinogenesis and (2) mucosal permeability and small intestinal function.
