Becca is a data scientist and science communicator in the transdisciplinary Data to Knowledge (D2K) research group at the University of Bristol. The group works across biomedical science, bioinformatics and social science to develop the infrastructural tools and methodologies for translating data into knowledge. Becca currently works within the FP7 BioSHaRE project and is the technical lead on Vertical DataSHIELD - developing open source software to facilitate secure data analysis in the biomedical sciences.
Becca has a broad transdisciplinary research profile spanning astrobiology, atmospheric science, space technology transfer, space education and peer review data publication. Additionally, Becca holds substantial experience in science communication and public engagement comprising membership of a public engagement panel for a research council project, developing and delivering schools outreach, contribution to museum exhibits, consultancy for external organisations and contributions to tv/film, radio and print media.
