Biography

João Pedro da Costa was born in Mulhouse (France) in 1974. He has a degree in Portuguese and French Language and Literature by the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto (2004) with honors by the Eng.º António de Almeida Foundation (2005) and a Ph.D. in Information and Communication on Digital Platforms by the University of Aveiro and the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto (2014) with a thesis on the convergence of music videos on the Web. He worked as a screenwriter and copywriter for TV (MTV Portugal), radio (Antena 3), cinema (Rádio Fazuma’s Radio Dreda) and the web (music magazines, blogs and other social networks). He’s a published and internationally awarded author in Portuguese and French literature and music documentary. His research interests focus on intermediality, the exploration of interdisciplinary epistemic approaches of Literary Studies in the field of Media and Web Studies, mostly in videomusical art and communication. He’s a co-founder and member of the editorial board of ESC:ALA, an online journal of inter-artistic practices and studies (www.escalanarede.com) and a collaborator of the Margarida Losa Comparative Literature Institute.
