Biography

Mara Braga works in the Green and Sustainable Processes Laboratory whose research strategies and activities are mostly focused on the use of “green”, sustainable, safe, biomimetic and environmental-friendly processes for the development of added-value products, materials and applications. These activities and strategies are mostly envisaged for the development of pharmaceutical, drug delivery, nutraceutical, biomedical and tissue engineering applications and include the use of: supercritical fluids (namely of supercritical carbon dioxide); aqueous/ethanolic-based solvent systems; natural-based polymers and phytochemicals obtained from renewable sources (e.g., vegetable raw materials and agro-industrial residues) and biomimetic synthesis/processing strategies.
