Lode Godderis is associate professor at the Centre for Environment and Health of the University of Leuven. His research group consists of 4 postdocs, 8 Phd students and 3 lab coworkers of the Laboratory of Occupational Hygiene. He is also director Knowledge, Information and Research at IDEWE (External Service for Prevention and Protection at Work) where he leads a team of 23 coworkers including 16 researchers, specialized in questionnaire studies and analysis of medical data for companies and sectors.

His research is essentially integrated in his academic task to transfer knowledge to the society. In this context, he has already carried out several projects for the Federal Public services and he gives frequently advise to the government, National Health Council and European Scientific Committees. He is member of the management committee of Modernet (COST Action IS1002); an international network for development of techniques for discovering trends in work-related diseases and tracing new and emerging risks.
