Biography
Dr. Tavasoli is a board-certified physician affiliated with Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) in Tehran, Iran. His professional journey includes training in pediatric neurology at Children’s Medical Center (CMC), TUMS, and completing two fellowships in childhood leukodystrophies and molecular Medicine. These fellowships took place at Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) in Washington DC, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in Philadelphia, USA, and the Jefferson Institute of Molecular at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, USA.
Currently, Dr. Tavasoli is pursuing further specialization through a clinical Pediatric Headache Fellowship at the Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children's Hospital in Phoenix, USA.
Since 2010 up 2020, Dr. Tavasoli has been practicing at Children’s Medical Center, TUMS, which is recognized as the largest and most prominent referral children’s hospital in Iran. His practice is dedicated to the comprehensive care of children dealing with conditions such as leukodystrophies, headache disorders, neuroinflammatory disorders, and neurodegenerative disorders. He holds the position of Clinical Associate Professor in Pediatrics and Pediatric Neurology at Children’s Medical Center (CMC) and is an esteemed faculty member at Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
Additionally, Dr. Tavasoli has taken the initiative to establish and maintain a registry database system at CMC hospital since 2016. This registry focuses on heritable white matter disorders and childhood leukodystrophies, boasting an impressive database of more than 850 registered patients, including over 300 genetically confirmed cases across a diverse range of leukodystrophies. This effort underscores his commitment to advancing research and improving the diagnosis and treatment of these rare conditions
