Biography
I am a Medical Doctor in the University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete, Greece and a PhD candidate in the Haemopoises Research Laboratory, Medical School, University of Crete (Head: Prof. Helen Papadaki) working on a project about MDSCs. Early data of my work have been presented in conferences such as EHA and I have been awarded with grants from competitive programs for the costs of the research material. Before starting my PhD, I finished my MSc in "Molecular Basis of Human Diseases" and conducted my master thesis on MDSCs in the Laboratory of Prof.Papadaki.
I was part of the COST program Mye-EUNITER (http://www.mye-euniter.eu/) that aimed to establish a gold standard of common protocols and harmonizing guidelines for the analysis and clinical monitoring of MRCs (including MDSCs). Together with Prof.Papadaki, I served as Host Coordinator of the COST Mye-EUNITER 5th Early Career Investigators’ Workshop & 5th Management Committee & Working Group Meeting, where I was responsible of the Program of the meeting and reviewed the abstracts for the oral and poster presentations. Moreover, I am the first author of the Review Article "Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells in Hematologic Diseases. Promising Biomarkers and Treatment Targets. Bizymi N, Bjelica S, Kittang AO, Mojsilovic S, Velegraki M, Pontikoglou C, Roussel M, Ersvær E, Santibañez JF, Lipoldová M, Papadaki HA. HemaSphere. 2019;3:1. doi: 10.1097/HS9.0000000000000168".
