• West Slavic linguistics (contact linguistics, language geography, historical sociolinguistics)
• History of language contact between West Slavic languages, German and Hungarian
• Central Europe as a language area – Austriacisms and internationalisms
• Czech National Revival in Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia and Vienna
• Language education in the Habsburg monarchy
