Biography
Idris J. Al-Busaidi earned a B.Sc. degree from Sultan Qaboos University, Oman, in 2004. He received his M.Sc. degree from the same university in 2016. He was a recipient of the best M.Sc. Thesis Award from Sultan Qaboos University in 2017. He joined Prof. Muhammad S. Khan in the department of Chemistry at Sultan Qaboos University in 2017 for his Ph.D. His doctoral research focuses on conjugated poly-ynes and poly(metalla-ynes), structure-luminescent properties and relationships of lanthanide β-diketonate and bipyridine-based chromophores and lanthanide(III) complexes for OLED applications. The development of new materials with application-oriented O-E properties is highly demanding for academic and industries research purposes. I intend to focus on the design and development of mixed metalla-ynes, poly-ynes and lanthanide β-diketone complexes. The electron-rich trans-bis(trialkylphosphine) Pt(II) fragment will be linked to electron-deficient spacer, which chelates (CO)5Re(I) fragment via ehtynyl bond incorporating novel conjugated spacers to create a novel mixed athylene-heterobimetalla-yne complexes. I would also like to design and develop a new family of organic poly-yne polymer and lanthanide β-diketone complexes. This will be followed by a comprehensive chemical, structural and photo-physical characterization of the newly synthesized materials and their incorporation in semi-conductor devices for opto-electronic applications.
