Biography
Samira Ferreira graduated in Biochemistry in 2008 and obtained her PhD in Health Sciences in 2012 at the University of Coimbra. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the group of professor Rodrigo Cunha, at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology, University of Coimbra. She is interested in the role of neuromodulators, particularly adenosine, dopamine and endocannabinoids, and their multilevel interactions when it comes to the regulation of synaptic transmission and neural plasticity. Currently, her research focuses on understanding the physiological role of adenosine receptors and their interactions with dopamine receptors in the prefrontal cortex.
