Biography
Didem Doganyilmaz Duman is an Associate Professor of political science at Izmir Democracy University in Türkiye. She received her Ph.D. (Cum Laude) from Universitat Rovira I Virgili (Spain) in 2014. Her research interests include identity politics, religion-based identity conflicts, Islamophobia, gender studies, and populist politics.
During her graduate studies between 2009 and 2014, Dr. Doganyilmaz Duman worked as a project researcher at the UNESCO Chair for Intercultural Dialogue in the Mediterranean. She had been a visiting researcher at the Université de Tunis (Tunisia) and Institute Français Géopolitique- Université Paris 8 (France). Alongside daily-basis academic tasks of the UNESCO Chair, she took part in international research projects including “SPRINGARAB – Social Movements and Mobilisation Typologies in the Arab Spring” financed by the European Commission, 7th Framework Programme (Marie Curie Fellowship).
Currently Dr. Doganyilmaz Duman is the Department Chair and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on political sociology, international politics, and political communication. She has published articles in several renowned peer-reviewed journals, book and book chapters on her expertise; and most recently, she has contributed to the project entitled "The Status of Girls' Education in the Arab and Islamic World" financed by the Arab Women Organization.
