Biography

Currently leading a post-doctoral research at National Institute for Space Research (INPE), Brazil, as part of DEVIL project http://deliveringfoodsecurity.org/ (Fapesp 2014/50627-2) focused on land use changes in the Brazilian Cerrado and its interactions to the challenge of delivering food security now and in the future on limited area in Brazil and in countries that import Brazilian agricultural products . The DEVIL project is an integrative knowledge initiative joining experts from 8 countries within 5 continents 7 as part of the Belmont Forum consortium, aiming to entail examining feedback interactions between land use change and food security dynamics.
Luciana holds a PhD in Production Ecology and Resource Conservation at Wageningen University, The Netherlands (2014), a MSc. degree in Remote Sensing (INPE, Brazil, 2000) and a B.Sc. degree in Physics (UFMS/Brazil , 1997). Has worked as a manager to operational monitor of natural disasters at CEMADEN (National Early Warning and Monitoring Centre of Natural Disaster) 2012-2015; as assistant researcher at INPE 2000-2001 and 2010-2012 in a collaborative project to Planetary Skin Institute (CISCO); and as a project manager at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPE/UFRJ) on oil spill surveillance using SAR images 2002-2004 and at Threetek company (2004-2005).
