Biography

dr hab. Marcin Walczyński
holder of a habilitation degree [doktor habilitowany] in linguistics (interpreting studies), a graduate of English studies, assistant professor at the Department of Translation Studies of the Institute of English Studies of the University of Wrocław and university professor at the Faculty of Modern Languages of the State University of Applied Sciences in Nysa, cooperating lecture at the Postgraduate Studies for Sworn Translators and Community Interpreters at the Chair for Translation Studies of Jagiellonian University, translation and interpretating trainer, sworn translator and interpreter of English, owner of a translation agency; So far, he has taught a variety of classes on the theory and practice of translation and interpreting (e.g. legal translation, business translation, (consecutive, a vista, simultaneous) interpreting, translation technology, specialised translation, legal language for translators, theory and practice of interpreting, community interpreting, selected practical aspects of specialised translation); his research interests include translation studies (interpreting, community interpreting, interpreter psychology, translation and certified translation, specialised translation, translation and interpreting education, specialised and certified translation education, translation support tools, translation services market), specialised languages (business English, legal English) and linguistics (sociolinguistics, contact linguistics).
