Biography

During the course of my research career in physical oceanography, I have developed an expertise in observing the ocean using a wide range of platforms (ship-based, autonomous platforms, underwater robots, satellite) to understand modern oceanographic processes and their relationships to climate variability. Currently at the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS), I am interested in the role of the North Atlantic Current and the Subpolar Mode Water for the global ocean circulation and the European climate. I am co-responsible of the planning and execution of the UK-OSNAP (Overturning in the Subpolar North Atlantic Program) mooring and glider programme. I have participated in 10 oceanographic cruises (CTD and mooring deployments) in the Mediterranean Sea and in the North Atlantic, occupying various roles from CTD watch leader to leading mooring deployment/recovery operations.
