Biography

After being in the research field of cryobiology since 2008 , my current research interests are in the line of reproduction of marine organisms, in particular I am an specialist on the development of cryopreservation protocols for marine organisms using the latest technology and methods available. Study the specific challenges of applying vitrification to aquatic species and further the basic knowledge on marine organism’s cells and behavior during cryopreservation both from the theory and practical point of view. I have developed cryopreservation protocols over a dozen species of marine invertebrates, more than a dozen species of marine micro-algae and also have experience with cell cultures from mice, zebrafish and yeast.
Cryopreservation is a very novel field when applied to marine organisms and a very new and effective form of preserving reproduction and therefore conserving biodiversity of marine organisms, although my main focus id on microorganisms like micro-algae or marine invertebrates I also collaborate with other researchers on the development of cryopreservation protocols for fish.

Member elect of the Board of Governors of the Society for cryobiology, member elect of the Board of governors of the Galician Association of Oceanographers and I am associate professor at the UNESCO chair in Cryobiology held at the Institute for Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
