Biography
Ivone Vaz-Moreira was born in Portugal in 1982. Obtained a B.Sc. degree in Biochemistry from the University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal in 2005 and a Ph.D. in Biotechnology with specialization in Microbiology from the Portuguese Catholic University, Porto, Portugal in 2012.
Since 2012, a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Portuguese Catholic University, Porto, Portugal with extended experience in bacterial ecology and antibiotic resistance in the environment. Her research is focused in Environmental Microbiology, associated with aquatic habitats and their intersections with soil/sediments, plants, animals, and finally humans. This includes the study of i) the bacterial diversity, in particular, on the urban water cycle and, ii) the potential of antibiotic resistance dissemination from aquatic environments. Collaborated in many taxonomy studies, having been considered one of the ten bacterial taxonomists in Portugal in 2014. Extensive experience in molecular biology and microbial characterization techniques.
Academic editor of PlosOne journal and member of the editorial board of the Exploration of Food and Foodomics. Certified reviewer for many indexed journals (https://www.publons.com/a/761315/). Participated in several national and international research projects. Co-author of >50 papers in Scientific Journals included in Science Citation Index (>3500 citations and h-index 26), 19 book chapters, two papers in proceedings of international conferences, and many oral and poster communications in national and international conferences.
