Biography

Dr. Marfeo is an Associate Professor within the Tufts University Occupational Therapy Department with secondary faculty appointments at Tufts University Clinical and Translational Science Institute and within Tufts University's Department of Community Health. Dr. Marfeo is also the Director of the Health & Productive Aging Lab at Tufts University. Dr. Marfeo’s research interests include health outcome measurement development, work disability, and productive aging across the adult lifespan. Specifically, Dr. Marfeo’s primary research goals are directed towards understanding the interactions between environmental demands, adaptations, and aging as it affects a person’s participation in productive activities and community engagement. Dr. Marfeo’s research specialization and clinical background as an occupational therapist allows her to bridge gaps between health services research and clinical applications of that research. Dr. Marfeo’s approach to research integrates paradigms of disability, aging, public health, and rehabilitation research. Research lab website: https://sites.tufts.edu/hpal/
