Biography
Eskezeia Yihunie Dessie received his MS in Biostatistics from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, in 2013, and his PhD in Bioinformatics and Medical Engineering from Asia University, Taiwan, in 2021. Following his PhD, he joined the Center for Precision Medicine at China Medical University as a postdoctoral fellow. In 2021, Dr. Eskezeia moved to the USA to continue his postdoctoral research fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Ohio. Dr. Eskezeia’s research focuses on developing and applying statistical, machine learning, and bioinformatics methods to biomedical data. His PhD dissertation and postdoctoral research have concentrated on identifying key genetic biomarkers and developing statistical and machine learning methods to predict high-risk cancer patients using RNA-seq data. In addition to his research, Dr. Eskezeia has taught statistics and bioinformatics courses to both graduate and undergraduate students. He has also served as a research advisor for students in the Departments of Statistics at the College of Natural and Computational Science, Debre Markos University, and Aksum University. Furthermore, he has been actively involved in public outreach activities, providing statistical software training (R, SAS, STATA, and SPSS) for government and NGO sectors in Ethiopia.
