Biography
José Pedro Borrego was born in Almeirim, Portugal, in 1976. He received the B.Sc. and the M.Sc. in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, and the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, from the University of Aveiro, Aveiro, Portugal, in 2002, 2008 and 2015, respectively, and a Post-graduate Diploma in Business Management from the Autónoma Academy (Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa), in 2016.
Since 2004, he is with ANACOM, the Portuguese Regulatory Authority for Communications, developing his professional activities, as a senior Radio Spectrum Engineer, at the Spectrum Control and Monitoring Center, in Barcarena, Portugal, as well as a Team Coordinator and R&D Project Manager. His main scientific interests include spectrum engineering, radio interference analysis, EMC, radiofrequency measurement, QoS assessment in wireless services, advanced signal processing techniques for spectrum monitoring, Innovation and R&D in Telecommunication Systems and 5G.
Dr. Borrego is the national Chair of the Commission E (Electromagnetic Environment and Interference) of the URSI Portuguese Committee, and the international Chairman of the URSI Working Group E6 on Spectrum Management, and also a Member of URSI's Technical Advisory Committee (Expert). He was Chair and Vice-Chair of the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Aveiro.
