Biography
Professor Steve P Beeby, (RAEng Chair in Emerging Technologies, FIET, FIEEE, FInstP, CEng, CPhys) obtained his PhD from the University of Southampton, UK, in 1998 on the subject of MEMS resonant sensors. He has been awarded two prestigious EPSRC Research Fellowships and is currently Head of the Centre for Flexible Electronics and E-Textiles. His research interests include e-textiles, energy harvesting, sensor systems, MEMS and active printed materials development. He leads the UK’s EPSRC funded E-Textiles Network (https://e-textiles-network.com/) having previously established the highly successful Energy Harvesting Network (www.http://eh-network.org/). He has secured research funding of over £17 M as PI (plus a further £8 M as Co-I) and holds a RAEng Chair in Emerging Technologies on the topic of E-Textile Engineering. He has previously been principal or co-investigator on a further 18 projects and coordinated 2 European Union research projects. He Co-Chaired the 2013 PowerMEMS conference and is Chair of the PowerMEMS conference International Steering Committee as well as being a TPC member of numerous other conferences. He has given 36 invited talks and has over 380 publications. He has an h-Index of 59 with >20,000 citations (Google Scholar). His enterprise activities include co-founding Perpetuum Ltd, a University spin-out based upon vibration energy harvesting formed in 2004 that now employs over 80 staff and has sold systems around the world. In 2011 he co-founded Smart Fabric Inks Ltd, a University spin out marketing a range of screen printable functional inks developed for e-textile applications.
