Biography
I am currently a scientist at Scaled Solutions, providing corrosion testing services to the production chemistry, and oil and gas sector.
I am also a PhD Candidate at University of Strathclyde, applying cathodoluminescence for understanding the formation and behaviour of perovskite thin films, with the aim of improving efficiency of perovskite solar cells. My work has focussed on linking variations in perovskite manufacture with heterogeneities in light emission, as well as understanding the crystal structure on a grain-scale. My key interests are in application of scanning electron microscopy, and electrochemistry to energy production. In my past occupations, I have spent time investigating corrosion and wear issues within lubricants, and understanding the surface impact of these processes on engine and transmission componentry.
I have 2 first-authored publications originating from my PhD studies, both of which are placed in the prestigious Journal of Materials Chemistry A from the Royal Society of Chemistry.
I also have a further co-authored work on guanidinium doping of perovskite solar cells, and one publication from my work on driveline lubricants, showcasing the cutting-edge technology I used at Lubrizol for predicting copper corrosion.
