Biography

Luigi Gallo is a Research Scientist at the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), Institute for High-Performance Computing and Networking (ICAR), and an Adjunct Professor of Informatics at the University of Naples "Federico II". His research interest includes computer vision, natural user interfaces and human interface aspects of virtual and augmented reality. He received an M.Eng. in Computer Engineering (Cum Laude) from the University of Naples "Federico II" in July 2006 and a Ph.D. degree in Information Technology Engineering at the University of Naples "Parthenope" in April 2010. He holds leadership roles within funded research projects in the fields of medical informatics and ICT for cultural heritage applications. He is author of more than 60 scientific papers published in international journals, conference proceedings and books. He also serves on the organizing and program committees of several international conferences and workshops, and on the editorial boards of international journals. He is a member of iHealth lab (Intelligent Healthcare laboratory - http://ihealthlab.icar.cnr.it), AMICO (Advanced Medical Imaging and Computing - http://amico.icar.cnr.it) and MITO (Medical Imaging Toolkit - https://sourceforge.net/projects/mito) working groups. He is also a member of several international associations, such as ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), SIGCHI (Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction), KES (Knowledge-Based Intelligent Information & Engineering Systems), GIRPR (Gruppo Italiano Ricercatori in Pattern Recognition) and IAPR (International Association for Pattern Recognition).
