Biography

Nuno Severiano Teixeira is Full Professor at Nova University of Lisbon and currently Visiting Professor at Georgetown University, and is also Director of the Portuguese Institute of International Relations.
He was Vice-Rector at Nova University of Lisbon (2013-2017). As a guest Professor he taught at Georgetown University (2000), the Institute for European Studies at the University of California, Berkeley (2003-2004), and the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies of the European University Institute in Florence (2010). With several national and international publications, Nuno Severiano Teixeira is specialized in fields such as International Relations, History of Portuguese Foreign Policy, Military History, and matters of Security and Defense.
Nuno Severiano Teixeira was also linked to Portuguese politics, having held the position of Minister of Interior in the XIV Constitutional Government (1999-2002) and Minister of Defense in the XVII Constitutional Government (2006-2009).
