Biography
Known as the "Grandfather of Therapeutic Gaming" for his research on the effects and applications of role-playing games (to achieve measurable results. W. A. Hawkes-Robinson (RT(R)) is a Washington State Department of Health Registered Recreational Therapist, Executive Director of the 501(c)3 non-profit research and human services charitable organization RPG Research, President of RPG Therapeutics LLC, Chief Technology Officer of Manufacturing Power and iNSUPPLi, associated with Eastern Washington University (EWU) and associated research at Washington State University (WSU). He is a recreational therapist and educator with additional background in music and therapeutic recreation, neuroscience, cognitive neuropsychology, play therapy, compassion focused therapy (CFT), research psychology, information technologies and computer science, including brain computer interface (BCI RPG) and artificial intelligence technologies (AI). He has been involved with RPGs since 1977, researching optimizing the RPG experience since 1979, studying their effects since 1983, using in school and other educational settings since 1985, with incarcerated and high-risk populations since 1989, and other therapeutic applications since 2004.
