Biography

Fiona Matthews (PhD, FAcSS) is a statistician by training her research interests focus on using modern statistical methods to investigate ageing, healthy life expectancy and autism using population based epidemiological studies. She is principal statistician and Deputy Director of the Cognitive Function and Ageing Studies. She is a quantitative researcher with over 290 publications.

She has supervised over fifty PhD and Masters students, holds several global visiting professorships having served on numerous advisory boards and committees, most recently she is ESRC Grant Assessment Panel chair and the UKRI Future Leaders Panel. Recognition of Fiona's global standing was confirmed in 2020 with election to Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences.
