Biography

Daniel E. Ritchie (Ph.D., Rutgers) is Professor of English at Bethel University, where he has taught since 1985. In 2006 he won Bethel’s faculty excellence award for teaching. In 2002, Ritchie developed Bethel’s Humanities Program, a team-taught, multiple-course introduction to the great books of the Western tradition. To support this program, he has won faculty development grants from the TCF Foundation and the Apgar Foundation ($77,000). He has worked as a magazine and newspaper journalist in New York and Kentucky, and served on the Minnesota Non-Public Education Council (2003-2010).
