Biography

I am currently immersed in my role as a researcher and PhD candidate at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where I am part of the esteemed Department of Science, Business, and Innovation (Breakthrough Tech Innovation) within the Department of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Science, Faculty of Science. With over 15 years of rich experience in teaching and lecturing at tertiary education institutions in Nigeria, I have had the privilege of imparting knowledge and inspiring students across various levels. Throughout my academic journey, I have authored more than 60 research papers that contribute to a deeper understanding of my field. My research explores the intricate and ever-evolving world of entrepreneurial activities, with a particular emphasis on the distinctive challenges and opportunities encountered by small-scale businesses and family-owned enterprises. I am genuinely passionate about dissecting various theories of entrepreneurship, scrutinising their real-world applications, and deepening my comprehension of effective business management strategies. A significant focus of my studies is on ethnic entrepreneurship, especially the traditional apprenticeship system of the Igbo, known as the NwaBoi apprenticeship system, which embodies a rich cultural heritage and innovative workforce development practices. Additionally, I examine the transformative impacts of the industrial revolutions, paying special attention to the advancements of Industry 5.0 and its implications for emerging economies and competency development. Sustainable development, the dynamics of mentor-mentee interactions, and the cultivation of competencies are also pivotal components of my research. Ultimately, my aspiration is to unearth and promote strategies that nurture sustainable growth and innovation, empowering entrepreneurs to navigate and flourish in an increasingly complex and competitive market landscape.
