Biography
Isabel S. Gonçalves received her degree in applied chemistry from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 1991 and completed her PhD in the field of organometallic chemistry at the Instituto Superior Técnico in 1996 under the supervision of Professor Carlos C. Romão. After post-doctoral work with Professor João Rocha at the University of Aveiro, she was appointed as Assistant Professor at the same University and in 2005 was promoted to Associate Professor. Currently her research interests focus on the design, synthesis and characterization of complex material architectures at various length scales. Towards this goal, a multidisciplinary approach combining classical organometallic chemistry with inorganic materials, polymer and supramolecular chemistry is followed. Specific areas of interest include the chemistry of group VIb metallocene derivatives, tailored molecular and hybrid organic-inorganic oxomolybdenum catalysts, cyclodextrin- and cucurbituril-organometallic inclusion complexes, surface organometallic chemistry, and luminescent lanthanide complexes.
