Biography
Alejandro Montes holds a PhD at the Department of Sociology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). He previously graduated in Sociology from the UAB in 2013 and completed a Master’s Degree in Social Policy, Work and Welfare at the same university (2014). Since 2013 is a member of the research group on Globalization, Education and Social Policy (GEPS-UAB). He has participated in several R+D and European projects and actualy is an official member of the research team of R+D project “The construction of post-16 educational opportunities. An analysis of post-compulsory educational transitions in urban settings” (EduPost16)”. In addition, he has worked with some of the most relevant educational institutions in the territory such as the Jaume Bofill Foundation, the Barcelona Education Consortium, the Llindar Foundation or the Education Department and participates in several projects with international institutions like UNICEF or Save the Children.
He has published and participated in various national and international journals and conferences. Their main areas of interest are: educational trajectories and transitions; educational inequalities; early school leaving and educational return; and the analysis of educational paths, specifically in access to higher education.
