Joana Mourão holds a degree in Architecture a Post-graduation and a PhD in Urbanism (Thesis available in https://ecomodus.files.wordpress.com/2016/01/phdthesis_jm_12_2012.pdf). She had training in Stuttgart and researched in Barcelona. In the last years she has taken part in architecture and urban studies in Portugal, being also researcher and teacher in the area of housing and urban planning for ecological sustainability. As consultant she took also part in territorial assessments of urbanization plans, including the assessment of housing and resettlement policies on African countries.
Author and coauthor of a book, book chapters, scientific papers, an Atlas and several technical reports, Joana Mourão was researcher at Dinamia’Cet (ISCTE-IUL) where she took part on the project "MEMO. Evolution of Lisbon Metropolitan Area Metabolism - Lessons for a sustainable urban future".
She is currently teaching Urbanism at Universidade Lusófona Master and PhD courses, in Lisbon.
