David Umoru holds a PhD degree in Economics with concentration on Applied Econometrics, Mathematical Economics & Macroeconomic Modelling. Umoru who was privileged to enjoy a PhD scholarship by the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) based in Nairobi, Kenya in collaboration with the University of Benin is an Associate Professor of Economics with loads of academic publications in reputable academic journals. He is an Editor of International Journal of Management Studies, Business and Entrepreneurship Research published by Centre for Advanced Research and Development (CARD), Rivers State University of Science & Technology, Port-Harcourt, Nigeria.
David Umoru whose career objective is to effectively contribute to economic growth and the development of nations by enhancing adequate training through teaching and researching, has visited countries such as Canada and UK (London) for conferences and workshops. Prior to joining Edo University Iyamho, David Umoru lectured at the Benson Idahosa University, Benin City where he respectively occupies the seat of an acting Head of Department of Economics, Banking and Finance, in the absence of the substantial Head of Department. He formally coordinated the Postgraduate programme of the Department of Economics, Banking & Finance for several years. By these activities, he accumulated wealth of administrative experiences in addition to his interpersonal skills which had equipped him to function exceptionally as a University academic. At the moment, David Umoru is the Ag. Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences, Edo University Iyamho.
Umoru is an effective administrator and teacher with a proven track-record of combining a strong teaching knowledge with excellent administrative skills to identify and maximise academic goals and objectives including learning opportunities for results delivery in a high-pressured target-based environments. He is exceedingly experienced in teaching. In fact, at both the undergraduate and postgraduate programs, Umoru has taught Applied Econometrics, Quantitative Techniques: Methods & Applications, Advanced Macroeconomics, Applied Industrial Economics, Applied Statistics: Methods & Applications, Structure of the Nigerian Economy, Advanced Monetary Economics etc.
David Umoru is an Econometrician and a consultant in the field of Economics. This is evinced in his rigorous mathematical modelling plus econometric analysis of most of his published articles. He is a prize winner and hence a recipient of numerous academic prizes namely, Departmental Academic Prize for the Best Graduating Student, Economics & Statistics, University of Benin, Chief James Onanefe Ibori’s Prize for the Best Graduating Student, Economics & Statistics, University of Benin, Late Christopher Uzoka’s Prize for the Best Graduating Student, Economics & Statistics, University of Benin, Professor S. E. N. Okoh’s Foundation Prize for the Best Graduating Student, Economics & Statistics, University of Benin and Rector’s Certificate of Honors for the Best Graduating Student, Department of Statistics, Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi in the 1996/1997 session.
Umoru is vastly skilled in Least Square Regression, Muticollinearity VIF Test, Panel Unit Root Testing, Probit Regression Analysis, Logit Regression Analysis, Panel Data Co-integration Analysis, Vector Autoregression (VAR) Analysis, Error Correction Modelling (ECM), GARCH in Mean Model Analysis, Volatility Analysis and Forecasting, Threshold Autoregressive (TAR) Models, Non-linear Econometric Model Analysis, Vector Error Correction Modelling (VECM), Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (ARCH) and GARCH Model Analysis, Math-Type Equation Object as well as econometric packages such as Eviews, Stata, SPSS for in-depth analysis of economic policy issues. He is responsibly married with four (4) children.
