Biography
Jorge Lopes has a Ph.D in Construction Economics from the University of Salford, UK (1997). He is coordinator professor in the Department of Construction and Planning (Department coordinator in 1998-2014 and 2022-2023) at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, Portugal. Jorge Lopes’ main scientific areas of interest are construction macroeconomics, project management, economic and financial appraisal of projects, and capital stock valuation. He is the author/ co-author of 80 refereed scientific publications (journal papers, book chapters and conference proceedings), of these, 33 are indexed in Scopus and/or WoS. He is Editorial Board/ Topical Advisor Panel member of 4 scientific journals: “International Journal of Strategic Property Management”; “Buildings”; “Sustainability”; and “Frontiers in Built Environment (construction management section), and was member of the Panel of Referees of the RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) Foundation Research Paper Series, in the period 2000-2004. He has also undertaken 90 review assignments in 19 indexed journals. He was member of the Management Team of the W55-W65 Task Group 81 “Global Construction Data” (formerly W55-W65 Task Group 31 “Macroeconomic Data for the Construction Industry”) of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction, in the period 1998-2016. He collaborated in the World Bank’s “Doing Business” project (construction sector in Portugal), annual editions 2005-2022, and was consultant and adviser of the Road Institute of Cape
Verde, 2008-2010.
