Biography

Dr Mehdi Amirkhani is an Online Course Facilitator (OCF) within the Bachelor of Construction Management program at the Univesity of South Australia (UniSA). His role involves working closely with UniSA Online and UniSA STEM to deliver high-quality online teaching to UniSA online students, and to coordinate the day-to-day activities of online tutoring staff. He is an active researcher on sustainable design, net-zero energy buildings and indoor environmental quality, specialising in innovative energy-efficient lighting systems, evaluation of the luminous environment, lighting effects on health and wellbeing.
Mehdi's PhD thesis established his research significance in the field of lighting design. This research explored commercial façade in regard to lighting (daylight and electric) optimising performance as reflected visual comfort and energy consumption.
Mehdi has been an Editor and Reviewer of several scientific journals and international conferences. He also established a student club during his PhD candidature and was awarded a total of $20,500 in grants.
Dr Mehdi Amirkhani is an Associate Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), Secretary of the Zero Energy Mass Custom Home (ZEMCH) Network and a member of the Architectural Science Association (ASA).
