Katerina Strani



I am currently Assistant Professor and Head of the Cultural Studies section at the Department of Languages and Intercultural Studies at Heriot-Watt University. My background is in Languages and Political Theory and my PhD thesis focused on communicative rationality in the public sphere. I am interested in how multilingualism and multiculturalism affect contemporary society and politics. I teach International Politics, Society and Institutions in Contemporary Europe, Conference Interpreting and Intercultural Issues in Business and Management. I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, the Political Studies Association, the International Communications Association and the University Association of Contemporary European Studies. I speak French, Greek and Russian and I am an assessor for IoLET DipTrans exams.
