Biography
Pablo Pavón Mariño was born in Ourense (Spain). He received his Telecommunications Engineering degree from the University of Vigo (Spain) in 1999. In 2000 he joined the Technical University of Cartagena (UPCT) (Spain), where he received his Ph.D. degree in Telecommunications in 2004. In 2010 he received his degree in Mathematics from the National University of Distance Learning (Spain). Since 2007, he has been working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Technologies and Communications of the Technical University of Cartagena. His research interests include performance evaluation and optimization of communication networks. He is the Head of GIRTEL (Telecommunication Networks Engineering Group) research group in UPCT.
He has authored or co-authored >30 journal papers and >50 conference contributions, participated in several national and international projects. He led the Spanish Thematic Network "Future Internet: Efficiency in high-speed networks" (FIERRO project). He was General Chair of the 15th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON 2013), which took place in Cartagena, 23rd-27th June 2013, and of IEEE High Performance Switching and Routing conference (IEEE HPSR 2011), which took place in Cartagena, 4-6 July 2011.
