Biography
Professor Nasreldin Elhadi is a Microbiologist with over 15 years of experience with an extensive research background in public health microbiology. Dr. Elhadi's research interests are to study the mutual relations between human health and the environment through the analysis (genotyping and molecular characterization, etc.) of bacterial pathogens associated with foodborne and waterborne infections. His major laboratory research interests concern is directed towards antibiotic resistance and molecular characterization basis of bacterial pathogenesis of human infections caused by pathogenic bacteria from different sources such as environmental, food, and clinical sources. His current ongoing research is in pathogenic Vibrio spp and other enteric bacterial pathogens. Prof Elhadi was awarded a 2 million Saudi Riyal (SAR) grant from King Abdul-Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) to conduct a project on environmental and molecular investigations of toxigenic Vibrio species in the coastal areas in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia and he served as a principal investigator on the project. Prof Nasreldin Elhadi was chosen as an expert member of expert panels for the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Meeting on Microbiological Risk Assessment on Vibrio parahaemolyticus and Vibrio vulnificus in Seafood in Codex Committee on Food Hygiene under FAO/WHO. Prof Nasreldin Elhadi has published more than 45 original articles in peer-reviewed international journals. His major publications include Elhadi N, 2022 (Elhadi N, Lamya ZY, ... Serological and Antibiotic Resistance Patterns As Well As Molecular Characterization of Vibrio parahaemolyticus Isolated from Coastal Waters in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia."2022. J of Epidemiology and Global Health 12 (4): 524-540; Elhadi N, Radu S, Chen CH, and Nishibuchi M. Prevalence of Potentially Pathogenic Vibrio Species in the Seafood Marketed in Malaysia. 2004. J.
