Biography
Juliana de Castro Amorim received a bachelor's degree (BSc) in Biology (2015) and a master's degree (MSc) in Biochemistry (2021) by the Sciences Faculty of the University of Porto (FCUP), Portugal. During her bachelors internship, she joined the Evolutionary Genomics and Bioinformatics group at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR, University of Porto) where she acquired some basic competences on the use of bioinformatic tools, comparative genomics, phylogenetic and natural selection studies. In 2021, joined the computational biochemistry group at FCUP where her master thesis research was conducted. This project allowed her to deepen knowledge on some computational techniques (homology modelling, molecular dynamics simulations , molecular docking, virtual screening, and QM/MM calculations). Currently, she is a researcher in REQUIMTE LAQV Porto and a PhD student at FCUP. Her research focuses on the study of snake venom enzyme's reaction mechanisms using hybrid quantum/classical methods and in drug discovery.
