Biography

Sumonta KASEMVILAS is currently an assistant professor at Department of Computer Science, College of Computing, Khon Kaen University (KKU) in Thailand. She holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems and Technology from Claremont Graduate University (CGU) in Claremont, California. Her dissertation received the Transdisciplinary Studies Program Dissertation Awards from the Transdisciplinary Studies Program, and her grant proposal has also received the Presidential Award from CGU. Her current research interests are in the areas of health informatics, smart technology and AI in healthcare, data mining, machine learning, persuasive technology, and human-computer interaction. Her past research include designing, developing, and evaluating plug-ins for MediaWiki to support group collaboration and knowledge sharing in classroom settings; and designing and implementing social networking sites to generate a stronger sense of community in higher education settings, and to encourage and aid transdisciplinary research. She currently co-directs Hardware-Human Interface and Communications (H2I-Comm) laboratory at Khon Kaen University. Her work has been presented in conferences such as HCII, SIGMIS, ICIW, AMCIS, HICSS, IADIS, and ICEB and various journals such as JAIS and ITSE.
