Biography
I am a wildlife expert with almost 20 years of experience in researching, assessing the status and conservation needs, designing programs and conservation/management planning, lecturing, raising awareness, and conducting courses of training and empowerment programs. I received my master's and Ph.D. from Universiti Putra Malaysia in Wildlife Ecology and Management. Living and working in various areas and in particular my home country, Iran, with a rich diversity of carnivore species, I was lucky enough to be able to develop my skills and knowledge concerning carnivores and in particular my favorite species, i.e. the leopard (Panthera pardus).
I am always passionate about learning new techniques and improving my skills and knowledge in my professional field (wildlife research/conservation and management). As such, I try to involve in projects where I can incorporate my skills and experience with new techniques and knowledge areas. I am also very much interested in designing creative and innovative localized programs and strategic contributions to carnivore conservation efforts.
Previously, I developed some new and creative platforms and programs such as the Persian Leopard Online Portal (an online data recording system working at the national level), Persian Leopard Regional Workshops, Persian Leopard Monitoring Scheme, Persian Leopard Insurance Programs, and mathematical models with relative indices concerning the cumulative effect of variations in the land use/land cover factors on regional persistence of the Persian Leopard in Iran. I was the author and program leader for developing the first Persian Leopard National Action Plan in Iran. Some of the awards and grants I received are indicated in the related sections afterward.
