Biography
My main areas of research are related to operations research and statistics, optimization techniques, equilibrium models, stochastic programming and robust optimization, and their applications to power system operations, planning, and economics; renewable energy sources; reliability, and vulnerability analysis of electric energy systems; and electricity markets.
From a practical point of view, my research has mainly focused on designing methods and decision-making models to facilitate the large-scale penetration of variable and limitedly predictable renewable energy sources in energy systems. I have published works on energy trading models, market design and clearing algorithms, reliability analysis of power systems, demand-side management, smart grids, etc.
