Biography
I have a PhD (Law) from Lancaster University, United Kingdom. I hold LL.M (Human Rights) from University of Reading and B.A.,LL.B. (Hons.) from National Law School of India University, Bengaluru.
My PhD research focused on Honour Killings, Witch Hunting and the Devadasi System as three major forms of violence against women in India which are generally seen as non-conventional crimes. My research focused upon the role of law and societal norms in the debate on violence against women in India in the backdrop of neglected violent practices towards women.
My research interests lie in the area of International Human Rights Law (particularly on the issue of gender based violence, caste discrimination).
