Biography

I have a long-standing interest in mechanisms of gene regulation, having studied epigenetic gene silencing and developmental gene activation during embryogenesis as a PhD student and postdoc. My group's research has uncovered new concepts and demonstrated that various mechanisms have evolved to specifically wire regulatory elements to their target genes in three dimensions in Drosophila, beyond what was currently known through studies in mammalian cells. We advance our research by deploying a wide toolbox in genetics, genomics, biochemistry and imaging.
