Biography
For more than a decade, Dr. Phillip W. Schnarrs' research has solely focused on promoting health and well-being in sexual and gender minority (SGM) populations. He led a PCORI-funded engagement project called the Texas PRIDE Health Collaborative and established the Texas Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health Research. Using mixed methods coupled with community-engaged research, his work is focused on increasing access to SGM-affirming care, improving HIV prevention and care outcomes, and pushing forward measurement and theory in SGM-health, explicitly understanding the role of early life adversity on mental health and the “biological embedding” process of stress. He recently received R01 funding from the National Institute of Mental Health to advance his work in SGM early life adversity.
