Biography
Olga Odgers holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales. Her doctoral dissertation, directed by Michel Wieviorka, was published as Identités frontalières: Immigrés Mexicains aux Etats-Unis (L’Harmattan, 2002).
Since 1999, she has been a researcher at El Colegio de la Frontera Norte (Tijuana, Mexico, www.colef.mx), coordinating several projects on the impact of Mexico-US migration on religious change and health, including the inter-institutional projects "Profiles and Trends in Religious Change in Mexico: 1995-2000" (Conacyt CB), “Integrándose a la ciudad: factores socio-demográficos y políticas urbanas en la incorporación de los inmigrantes mexicanos en Los Ángeles” (Fundación BBV), “Migration and religious change: the relationship between migration and religious change in Morelos, Mexico” (PAPIIT-UNAM), “, “Range of Therapies Provided by Evangelical Rehabilitation Centers for Drug Addicts in the Baja California Border Region” (Conacyt CB), Tracing Mobility and Care Trajectories. She directs Migraciones Internacionales journal. She received the Research Award for Young Scientists from the Mexican Academy of Science in 2009, and is a regular member since 2012. Professor Odgers is member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores Conacyt (SNI III).
