Isabel Cabrita holds a degree in Maths Education at University of Aveiro, having been a maths teacher of Basic and Secondary Education for 4 years. Since 1986, joined the University of Aveiro and obtained her PhD in Didactics, which combines mathematics with computer technologies. Has always worked these two main areas, at the academic level – with experience in teacher training (pre-service, in-service and post -graduate) – research and university extension.
She is a national exam specialist and member of the Evaluation Committee for Final Reports of Scientific Research and Technological Development Projects funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). She was the Coordinator, at a regional level, of a Portuguese Ministry of Education Program – Math in-service teachers trainer (2005-11).
She was a member of several bodies of the University of Aveiro - at central, interdepartmental and departmental level.
She is a member of the Iberian Network CTS + I of the OEI - Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture and a founding member of CIDTFF - Research Centre Didactics and Technology in Education of Trainers (University of Aveiro).
She was Executive Secretary at this centre since its inception (1994) until 2016 (with a brief interregnum) and is responsible, since 2001, of the [email protected]
- Math Lab education in the University of Aveiro and, since 2015, of the ICT Competence Center of the University of Aveiro. Is Director of Masters Courses and Deputy Director of the Doctoral program in Multimedia in Education.
She developed (as responsible or member) several projects financed externally (with a budget around – 2.300.000,00 euros).
Argued (135) and guided several pos-doc, PhD theses and/or master dissertations (40 concluded).
She has several publications and (invited) communications (at national and international level).
She organized several conferences and is a member of the scientific committee of national and international events.
Is also a member of the scientific / referee committee of several journals of international scope.
