Biography

Carmen Silvestri is a Post-doctoral Research Associate interested in multilingualism and primary education. She completed her PhD (AHRC-funded) in Applied Linguistics at the University of Essex with a project on the role of multilingual education in post-Brexit England. Her ethnographic study investigated multilingual practices and critical pedagogy in an Italian complementary school in London. Carmen is currently part of the team in the Progression in Primary Languages project at the University of Reading. She is also a coordinating member of the association Manifesto di Londra and a co-opted member of the National Association for Language Development in the Curriculum (NALDIC).
