Robert Shaw is a New Zealander whose work includes governance and management consulting, teaching and academic research. He is currently at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) , in the Pearl River Delta region of Southern China. He teaches Western psychology and philosopy in the Graduate School of Business at GDUFS. He also teaches in the Western Institute of Technology Taranaki's applied management degree programme. More recently in New Zealand he works as a counsellor at Family Works Tarnanaki (Presbyterian Support Central).
Robert has managed many research projects in science, education and public policy. His affinity is for "everything to do with science". He is active in business research, particularly the development of innovative business research methodologies. Recent projects are about the interface between China and the West. He supports the Philosophy of Education Society of Australasia, the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management, the Philosophy of Management and the New Zealand Association of Science Educators. His theoretical work mainly relates to Kant, Heidegger and Heelan. Some of his research is about curriculum theory and curriculum design, science and e-learning. Recent work relates to counselling and psychoanalysis.He is a member of the New Zealand Psychological Society.
