Biography

Valdimaras Janulis
PhD; Habilitated doctor in biomedical sciences; Professor of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences; Head of Pharmacognosy department in Lithuanian University of Health Sciences. Born in Anykščiai in 1951 08 08.
Education: During 1958–1969 attended Secondary School of Troškūnai (District of Anykščiai). In 1969 – 1974 studied in Pharmacy faculty of Kaunas Medical Institute. In 1975–1978 – Ph.D studies of Pharmacognosy Department in Moscow medical I. M. Sechenov I- Institute.
Career: During 1974–1975 year worked as a probationer in the department of Drug Technology and Pharmacognosy of Kaunas Medical Institute. In 1978–1982 worked as an assistant in the department of Pharmaceutical chemistry and Pharmacognosy. In 1982–1987 worked as a senior lecturer in the department of Pharmaceutical chemistry and Pharmacognosy. In 1987–1995 was an assistant professor in the department of Pharmaceutical chemistry and Pharmacognosy. In 1995– 2008 was a head of the department of Pharmaceutical chemistry and Pharmacognosy. Since 2008 has been the head of the department of Pharmacognosy. In 1994 defended habilitation thesis “Desmodium canadense D.C a plant source of new biologically active compounds possessing antiviral and hypoazotemic effects”. In 1995 was awarded by professor pedagogic name.
Professional activities: Educational work is carried out in teaching Pharmacognosy discipline for pharmacy students of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences. Scientific research is based on analysis of biologically active compounds of medicinal plants, development and standardization of herbal products.
